Chilaw City Tour
Found 65 km from the Bandaranayake International Airport and a just 100 km away from the commercial capital of Colombo, the coastal city of Chilaw ranks as one of the more peaceful getaways in the Puttalam District. Known for its diverse cultural background, the main livelihood of the area is fishing. Bearing features of the European influence, Chilaw remains as one of the leading towns that boasts a large Roman Catholic community. Those entering the city limits will be greeted by a beautiful statuette of Mother Mary built as a means of warding off all evil.
CoCo Village Hotel Chilaw comes across as a favoured holiday retreat as it provides visitors with easy access to the Chilaw beach and lagoon. Showcasing a fine blend of culture, colour and custom, the four week long Munneswaram Festival features prominently and attracts a large gathering of Buddhists, Muslims, Catholics and Hindus. The Munneswaram Temple also is a sacred shrine of worship for those of the Hindu faith and sees festivals such as ‘Sivarathri’ and ‘Navarathri’ celebrated annually. The birth of Sinhala drama – ‘Nadagama’ also derived from Chilaw.
Wilpattu Jeep Safari
Renowned for its leopard population, the Wilpattu National Park found on the northwest coast of the country features a large collection of natural lakes. Found 100 km from the hotel, species such as sloth bears, elephants and even water buffalos can be viewed here.
Pinnawala Day Trip

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is an orphanage, nursery and captive breeding ground for wild Asian elephants located at Pinnawala village, 105 km from CoCo Village Hotel. Pinnawala has the largest herd of captive elephants in the world.

Anawilundawa Wetland
Nourished by the waters of an irrigation tank, the natural habitat of Anawilundawa Ramsar Wetland comprises of grasslands, mangroves and a host of other agriculture systems. A bird watcher’s paradise, this wetland is situated a mere 6 km from our hotel.
Negombo City Tour
Fondly referred to as ‘Little Rome,’ the town of Negombo found 56 km away from CoCo Village Hotel was once subject to colonial rule. Therefore when visiting the area, one will be able to see the Dutch Canal and Dutch Fort which are truly marvellous creations.
Madhu Church
Experience the solace and solitude of one of Sri Lanka’s oldest shrines which is the Madhu Church. This 400 year old church has long been a centre of devotion and continues to be a popular pilgrimage site especially during the month of August which sees many locals commune to celebrate the feast of Madhu. It is found 170 km from the hotel.
Muthurajawela Boat Trip
Muthurajawela Marsh boat trip, Comprising of mangroves and other forms of flora, the Muthurajawela Marsh is arguably one of the finest places to visit. Home to many water birds and reptiles such as the python, the area is situated 74 km away from our retreat.
Deduru Oya
The Deduru Oya is considered as the 4th largest river in Sri Lanka which begins from the western slopes of the Kandy & Matale hills. The riverbed receives almost 50% of the total rainfall during the inter monsoon period and constitutes many tributaries.
Talawila Church
Situated near Kalpitiya, St. Anne’s Church in Talawila is one of the sacred and iconic premises that attract a large number of Catholic devotees during the months of March and August. One might also want to head down to the stunning coastline of Talawila Beach which is easily accessible from the shrine.
Cultural Triangle
From the ruined cities of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa to the frescoes of Sigiriya and even the cave temple of Dambulla, the cultural triangle of the country is a treasure trove of wonder and an invaluable source of learning. The triangle is nestled 160 km from the hotel.
